For over 30 years, DSST exams have provided military personnel with a head start on a post-military career path. The original mission of DANTES included the directive to support the off-duty voluntary education programs of the Department of Defense. DSST exams were designed to provide a benefit to the Military by allowing personnel to further their educational goals while in the service. Through DANTES and its DSST Credit by Exam Program, you can earn credit for military experience faster and easier than through traditional college courses, all at no cost to you. DANTES Subject Standardized Tests (DSSTs) offer military personnel an opportunity to earn credit in 38 different college subjects.
DSST Exams are funded by DANTES for the following groups:
Military Personnel (Active Duty and Reserve): Army, Navy, Air Force, Marine Corps, U.S. Coast Guard, Army Reserve, Air Force Reserve, Marine Corps Reserve, Navy Reserve, Coast Guard Reserve, Army and Air National Guard.
Eligible civilian employees and spouses of participating Reserve Component and Coast Guard personnel.
Department of Defense Acquisition Personnel (Only eligible for the following computer-based exams: Principles of Macroeconomics, Principles of Microeconomics, and Principles of Marketing.)
