A Healthy BSC Community
A HEALTHY BSC COMMUNITY

"A Healthy BSC Community" (also known as ABC) began in Spring Semester 2006. It started as a series of events over the course of the semester designed to bring awareness to a variety of health topics.

We also have coordinated a series of presentations to campus on various topics such as "Healthy Eating VS. Extreme Dieting," "Exercise to Fit Into Daily Living," "Healthy Sleep," and Alternative Medicine.

Awareness days have focused on "Go Red" - a day to wear red in support of the American Heart Association and "Know Stroke." Wear Red competitions are hosted and funds are gathered for the AHA through jeans day and donations.

In 2009, ABC received "standing committee" status from the Operations Council and funding to proceed with a Health Fair. We have facilitated numerous health fairs on the BSC campus. Other events funded by the Operations Council have included a presentation on "Work-Life Balance" by Bob Upgren, and a presentation on "Progress, Not Perfection" by Kate Larsen.

In addition to these events, ABC coordinates the NDPERS Worksite Wellness Program on the BSC Campus and provides information regarding NDPERS wellness programs such as the Health Club Credit to BSC employees.
