Uhlich taught her first class at BSC in 1978 and became a full-time instructor in 1985. She has worked in various capacities as program coordinator and director and chaired the department since 2006. Uhlich holds national certification as a specialist in blood banking and transfusion medicine as well as medical laboratory scientist certification from the American Society for Clinical Pathologists. She currently teaches Clinical Chemistry and Urinalysis.
Raised on a farm and ranch near Garrison, Uhlich earned her MS degree in medical laboratory science from the University of North Dakota and BS in medical laboratory science from Minot State University. She is laboratory education coordinator and a lab supervisor at Medcenter One. Her positions have included supervising the Medcenter One blood banking-transfusion medicine and special chemistry sections of the lab.
Uhlich maintains her clinical office at Medcenter One and her department chair office at BSC's Allied Health Campus in downtown Bismarck. The program office is in Jack Science Center 220. Since 1985, Uhlich has served on the BSC Medical Laboratory Technician and Phlebotomy Technician Advisory Committee, currently as committee chair. She is also a member of the Faculty Senate.
Prior to teaching at BSC, Uhlich also worked as a technical consultant and sales representative for Biological Corporation of America, a blood bank reagent company in Philadelphia, and as a research technologist at the University of Minnesota Hospital neutrophil serology lab.
