TRANSFER STUDENTS

You are a Transfer Student if you have attended one or more post-secondary institutions (after high school graduation) other than BSC.
A complete admissions file includes:
- BSC application for admission.
- $35 non-refundable application fee.
- Any student who provides documented proof of active military duty status will have the fee waived. Proper documentation includes one of the following:
- Common Access Card (CAC)
- Military ID indicating Active Duty Status
- Orders indicating Active Duty Status
- If desired documentation may be faxed to the Admissions office at 701-224-5643 or emailed to BSC.Admissions@bismarckstate.edu.
- An official high school transcript or official GED transcript. To be considered official, the transcripts must be sent directly to BSC from the issuing institution. Exemptions to this policy may be granted if you have completed 24 or more semester hours of college level coursework.
- Documented proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. Exemptions to this policy may be granted if your date of birth is prior to 1/1/57 or if the student's beliefs preclude participation in an immunization program.
- Results of the American College Test (ACT) or the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT). This is required of students 24 years of age or under and/or students with less than 24 semester hours of completed college credit. Students with ACT scores more than five years old must also complete the COMPASS placement exam. Transfer students' transcripts will be evaluated to determine if exemptions apply.
- COMPASS placement exam. BSC requires all students ages 25 or older to submit COMPASS assessment scores in the areas of English, math and reading, unless exemptions apply. All students who plan to take an English or math course must submit appropriate assessment scores prior to enrollment. If the COMPASS placement exam is not available in their area, students may be eligible to take the ACCUPLACER assessment. Transfer students' transcripts will be evaluated to determine if exemptions apply.
- Official college transcripts. To be considered official, the transcripts must be sent directly to BSC from the issuing institution. To send an official elecontric transcript, please use the following sites: docufide.com, getmytranscript.com, and scrip-safe.com.
As a transfer student, you naturally want to know how your previous college courses fit with BSC's requirements and what courses you need to graduate.
The Transfer Equivalency Website will allow you to find course equivalencies from various schools across the United States.
