NON-DEGREE STUDENTS
A non-degree student is any student who has not met the necessary admission requirements or is not pursuing a degree or vocational program. Credits earned cannot be used toward a degree, diploma, or certificate until all admissions requirements have been satisfied and their credit records evaluated by the Registrar.
Non-degree students are not eligible to:
1. Receive any Title IV financial aid
2. Receive G.I. Bill benefits
3. Apply for a degree.
A complete admissions file includes:
- BSC application for admission.
- $35 non-refundable application fee.
- Any student who provides documented proof of active military duty status will have the fee waived. Proper documentation includes one of the following:
- Common Access Card (CAC)
- Military ID indicating Active Duty Status
- Orders indicating Active Duty Status
- If desired documentation may be faxed to the Admissions office at 701-224-5643 or emailed to BSC.Admissions@bismarckstate.edu.
- Documented proof of immunity to measles, mumps, and rubella. Exemptions to this policy may be granted if your date of birth is prior to 1/1/57 or if the student's beliefs preclude participation in an immunization program.
- ACT, SAT, COMPASS or college transcripts are required of students enrolling in English, math or courses that have a pre-requisite. The college transcript will only be used for placement and will not be officially evaluated.
- The Non-Degree Seeking form, which will be either emailed or mailed for student's signature, must be returned with signature prior to acceptance.
Changing from Non-Degree seeking to degree seeking for current semester
Students not enrolled in classes must:
- Notify Admissions office of change
- Complete a BSC application for admission declaring a new major
- Complete all admissions requirements
Student enrolled in classes must:
- Complete the withdraw to zero credits form
- Notify Admissions office of change
- Complete a BSC application for admission declaring a new major
- Complete all admissions requirements
Changing from Non-Degree seeking to degree seeking for a future semester
- Notify Admissions office of change
- Complete a BSC application for admission declaring a new major
- Complete all admissions requirements
