John A. Darling, Assistant Professor of Music

The band is an ensemble that will be here as long as we learn how to play wind, brass, and percussion instruments, and as long as we love to share with others. This is the most important aspect, i.e. making music together, especially in these times when so much trash is being thrown on us and our young people. Bands, with orchestras, choirs, and chamber groups will keep our music alive. --Karel Husa, Pulitzer Prize winning composer

Dawn Hagerott, Instructor of Music

Each of us has the potential to be a great singer. We just need to learn the tools to do this. If you have a love for music, (whatever style of music it may be) and you enjoy singing, you owe it to yourself to discover the voice that lies within you. Singing is such a wonderful way in which you can express yourself. Singing is something you can take with you anywhere, do anytime, and continue to enjoy your entire life --Dawn Hagerott

Alduous Huxley said, After silence that which comes nearest to expressing the inexpressible is music. An education without music does not allow children to express their inmost being. When we separate music from education we are not teaching the whole child. - Joan Eckroth-Riley.

Perhaps no other pursuit offers the rewards that music does. Whether we use it to make a living, enjoy time with friends or family, teach others, express love or patriotism, commune with God, or sing our children to sleep, we can bless and favor others with the gift of music -- a gift we can carry with us through our whole life. --Clyde Bauman
