Course Description: In a series of eight modules, this course will cover the NERC recommended topics for system operator emergency training. As the power system grows and new demands are placed on aging equipment, unique situations will arise which challenge system operations. This course will examine these challenges, as well as look at the causes and lessons learned from past power system emergencies. Several power system simulators will be utilized during the delivery of this course.

What are the course advantages? BSC's Emergency Operations Training course is 100% online with access anytime and anywhere. The instructors are from the industry and have relevant knowledge for the learners. Throughout the course, students will have the opportunity to use Interactive Learning Tools in the enhanced online lessons. This course fulfills the NERC mandated, 32 hour Emergency Operations Training requirement.

Who should participate? This course is designed for all positions identified in the NERC Standard PER-002-R4 and anyone else interested in learning about Emergency Operations and System Restoration.

What are the online course elements? This course is instructor-led, asynchronous, and completely online. Students learn from and participate in threaded discussions, self-checks, video/audio and text based lectures, quizzes, animation and graphic elements. Instructors provide feedback on students' completed exam's and answer students' questions in the discussion areas and through email. Student participation in discussion areas is encouraged as it enhances the quality of learning for all participants.

How do students and companies register? Both individual and group registrations are available.

Individuals will be contacted by email within 3 days after registration. They will be provided with directions, student ID and password at that time. Please call (701) 224-5764 if you do not receive this information by the class start date. A certificate of completion will be mailed to the address on record upon completion of the course. The company contact person will be contacted by email within 3 days after registration with a list of registered students from that company. The registered students will be then be contacted by email with the directions, student IDs and passwords at that time. Please call (701) 224-5764 if you do not receive this information by the class start date. Certificates of completion will be mailed to the contact person upon completion of the course.

When do students participate and complete the course work? The course contains 32 hours of content and will take a maximum of 45 full days to complete the course requirements. More time is allowed with instructor approval. Students are provided a login and password to enter the course online.

How many NERC CEH Hours will I receive? Upon successful completion, you will receive 32 Hours to meet NERC Emergency Training requirements as defined in NERC Standards PER-002-R4. A certificate will be mailed to each participant after completion.

How much does it cost? The cost per student is $448.00 ($14.00 per CEH). Individuals must pay be credit card or prior billing arrangements need to be made by calling (701) 224-5764. Company Group Registration may pay by credit card or be invoiced. Invoices will be sent to the contact person.

What is the course schedule? The course is scheduled from January 1 - June 30 and July 1 - December 31. The students may register for the courses at anytime before May 1 for the January - June Session and November 1 for the July 1 - December 31 Session. The student will have access to the material within 3 working days after registration and will have access to the course for 45 days.

What is the cancellation policy if I am unable to attend? Refunds granted at the participant's request will incur a $15 processing fee per class, to be deducted from the amount refunded. All refunds are made by mail unless paid with a credit card; in which case the card is credited. Please allow four weeks to process refunds. If cancellation is requested after the online course is accessed or less than one week prior to the course end date, no refund is available. Full refunds are guaranteed if BSC Energy Technology Division cancels a course.
