BSC COMPUTER HELP DESK FAQs

What services does the Help Desk provide?
We provide hardware and software support for BSC-owned computer equipment, including desktop computers, laptops and mobile devices, printers, and related peripheral devices.
We assist students with setting up their BSC email account and claiming their NDUS Account, which is used to access the campus network and CampusConnection.
We also assist students with connecting their laptops to the wireless network on campus.

Does the Help Desk work on computers other than those that are BSC owned?
Due to potential liability issues, as well as time and staffing restraints, we are not able work on computers or equipment that is not owned by BSC.  If you are experiencing problems or errors with your computer, we recommend first contacting your computer manufacturer for support, or visiting the support area of their web site.  If your computer is out of warranty or has an issue that is not supported by your computer manufacturer, there are local computer repair businesses you can contact.  They will normally charge an hourly fee to service your computer.

I think I have a virus on my computer.  Can the Help Desk assist me?
We are not able to assist with virus removal on non-BSC owned computers due to potential liability issues such as data loss.  Make sure you have the latest updates for your antivirus program and do a complete scan of your hard drive.  If you do not have a current antivirus program, Microsoft Security Essentials is available for free.  Visit our virus information page for more details concerning antivirus and antimalware programs.

Issues with your login and/or password(s)
  • To log onto the campus network (lab computers and wireless network) as well as CampusConnection, you use the NDUS Account ID and password you set up when you claimed your account.  See our Login Information page for detailed information on claiming your NDUS User Account, and recovering a forgotten User ID and/or password.
  • If you have already set up your BSC email account and are having trouble signing in, see this information page concerning sign-in and password issues.  If you are still not able to sign into your email account, please contact the BSC Help Desk for further assistance.
  • If you do not know your login information for either your BSC online course or eCompanion, contact our Distance Learning department for assistance.
