Perfect weather, a hole-in-one, and a threeway tie for first place gross prize marked the 2008 BSC President’s Cup Golf Classic on June 20. Proceeds from the tourney, which brought out 156 golfers, fund athletic scholarships.

Reg Rudolph scored a hole-in-one at Pebble Creek’s 2nd hole.

First place net team prize went to Russ Ormiston, Rich Goldsbury, Kyle Oslos, and Mark Johannsen. The three-way tie for first place gross team was scored by the teams of Jon Joersz, Ben Joersz, Jon Anderson and Kevin Gilchrist; Arthur Jerome, Craig Larson, Dave Blair and Tanner Blair; and Skyler Marquart and Ryan, Ray and Rhett Benning.

These retired BSC employees were inducted into the Mystic Hall of Fame during the 19th hole social:

Dr. Kermit Lidstrom, president from 1977-95, worked closely with the athletic department, providing administrative support. He continues to support the Mystic Athletic Club and attends games regularly.

Ed Kringstad retired as athletic director in 1999 after 33 years of service. He also coached hundreds of athletes in wrestling, tennis, cross country and golf. He previously was inducted into the NJCAA National Wrestling Hall of Fame and the Valley City State University Hall of Fame.

Jim Kautzman, known as “Katz,” was athletic equipment manager until retiring May 30. A dedicated employee and Mystic supporter for over 35 years, he was a friend to hundreds of BSC athletes.
