BSC President Larry C. Skogen presented U.S. Senator Byron Dorgan with an honorary associate in applied science degree in power plant technology during BSC’s 68th commencement ceremony May 9 at the Bismarck Civic Center. Sen. Dorgan was also the guest speaker.

The honorary degree acknowledges the senator’s unwavering support of BSC and the Energy Technology programs. He secured $5.1 million last year to assist with construction of BSC’s National Energy Center of Excellence, an energy technology training and education facility, including a state-of-the-art laboratory. He also authored legislation that was signed into law designating BSC as a National Power Plant Operations Technology and Education Center.

BSC’s class of 2008 consisted of 779 students receiving 845 associate degrees, diplomas and certificates.
