At BSC the Office of Innovation promotes the following three components of innovation:

Innovation is important to BSC and to each employee
At BSC our ultimate goal is to go beyond - as individuals and as a college.  To reach that goal innovation must be an integral part of our campus life and work.  We encourage all employees to embrace innovation.

    1)  It's our job to be innovative.

Practicing innovation is how our employees help BSC go beyond, but they find this practice also helps them individually because:

    •  Proactive people get noticed
    •  Cross-campus collaboration increases knowledge and understanding
    •  Leadership opportunities enhance experience
    •  Innovation makes a job easier
    •  Innovation initiatives ignite a career

Anyone can learn to be innovative.
Innovation can be learned.  The Office of Innovation makes it easy, supporting activities and providing offerings that fulfill both our employees' professional development requirements and their annual goals.

One of the ways employees can implement innovation is through the Wild Endeavor process.  Employees can submit their innovative ideas for potential funding that will allow those ideas to be implemented across campus.

Check out the Wild Endeavor projects that BSC employees have championed over the last year:

Learning Objects Campus Pack Pilot - BSC's Instructional Technologist/Designer submitted the idea of piloting a one-year program that would engage students with the social media tools they already use, integrated directly within eCollege/eCompanion.  Faculty could implement custom assignments, collaborative work spaces, and foster peer review to improve course effectiveness and turn a classroom into a community.  Features included integrated blogs, wikis, video, group project workspaces, and audio recording directly within the browser.

Beware Your Chair - The Sit-to-Stand Project - BSC's Associate VP for Finance & Operations submitted an idea to promote a healthier work environment for individuals who are primarily desk-bound due to the nature of their jobs. The sit-to-stand project was piloted in the Accounting Services and College Relations Departments. Each participant received an adjustable platform to hold her monitor, keyboard and/or laptop. The platform, which sits on a desktop, can be adjusted to any level to accommodate sitting or standing.
