Program Description The Pre-Dentistry program at BSC provides required courses for the first two years of an appropriate pre-dentistry degree such as liberal arts with a major in biology or chemistry. Core study includes general chemistry and biology, organic chemistry, college physics, and algebra and trigonometry or calculus. Other courses available at BSC that dental programs may require are anatomy, physiology and microbiology.
Preparation High school students planning careers in dentistry should study as much science and math as possible. Program Requirements Students completing requirements of the suggested curriculum receive an Associate in Science degree and are eligible for transfer to a four-year institution. BSC has cooperative agreements with Dickinson State University and Minot State University and several other four-year institutions that allow students to continue with a bachelor's degree on the BSC campus. Those transferring to other institutions should consult the catalog of the transfer school and modify BSC's suggested curriculum where necessary. Contact your BSC advisor for assistance with transfer planning.
Career Opportunities Applicants to dental schools are selected on the basis of academic performance, letters of reference from instructors, and score on the Dental Aptitude Test.
