PHASE IV: VISION CONFERENCE | JANUARY 2012
The vision conference is an exciting and highly interactive event in which internal and external stakeholders craft a shared picture of the future. Stakeholders will spend time sharing their unique perspectives, understanding the views of others, and developing awareness about the issues that affect the college. The result of this work will be the creation of a preferred future for the college.
The vision conference has three main parts: The Collaborative Teaching Design, Stakeholder Review, and Creating a Preferred Future. During the Collaborative Teaching Design small groups review and discuss the concept papers. From the discussions, participants learn about the essential elements of the strategic themes. Upon completion of the Collaborative Teaching Design, all the strategic information comes together to provide participants a coherent and strategic view of the institution.
In the second part of the vision conference each stakeholder group is asked to develop and share what it believes is important for the college's future. The various groups will also identify the issues to consider as Bismarck State College's strategic goals are developed.
The final part of the vision conference consists of determining specific goals for the future. The concept paper themes are used to help the participants envision what they want the college to look like five years from now. The strategic planning task force then has the responsibility of condensing the preferred future described by the vision conference participants into a new vision statement for the college.
